CUSTOM PAINT  MOTORCYCLES  HELMETS  CARS  TRUCKS   SNOWBOARDS

A friend of mine, who is also an art therapist, commented while looking at the locked hands seen on my horse's hind legs said "this is a reflection of your life".

I started custom painting in the 70's. A time when I was more outlaw than painter. As a result, I spent a large portion of that era in prison. On October 29th, 1989 I reached out of the rubble of my own life.

There were hand there to lift me out.

As an artist, I am honored to have been able to work on this project. The money raised was used to purchase the horses; everything else was freely given-another example of Rochester pulling together in a labor of love.

HORSES ON PARADE

A Dedication to the Firemen of 9/11

The idea for the horses were born in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. Listeners to one of our local radio stations, WCMF and disc jockey Brother Wease were sharing their sorrow and frustration at the loss of life.

Someone suggested that Rochester add two more horses to the popular Horses on Parade campaign-one to honor fallen New York City firefighters.

The phones began to ring with an outpouring of money and services to make this tribute happen.

I called and offered to design and paint on horse, my friend Matt Murray volunteered to create the second.

The inspiration for the design of the horse's legs came from a moment while watching the rescue effort. One fireman saw a patch of light above him. He reached out his hand. Someone grabbed and began to pull him to safety, the fireman then felt someone below him grip his other wrist.

The fireman held on and both were pulled from the debris.
